Director of the Mass Spectromtry Research Facility

I am Director of Mass Spectrometry Research Facility and responsible for managing the core Mass Spectrometry Facilities, services and support staff.  My research interests focus on the study of cellular chemistry and metabolism from an analytical chemistry perspective. The McCullagh group develops and applies novel analytical tools to help understand environmental, genetic and proteomic influences on cell chemistry and metabolism in plants, microorganisms, animals and humans.

Cellular Chemistry and Metabolism

We are a highly collaborative group and work in a range of disease related areas including cancer, diabetes, heart disease and immuno-metabolism. We work on a range of sample types including cells, tissues and bio-fluids, bone and plant structures and microorganisms. We specialise in measuring changes in central metabolism including metabolic pathways such as glycolysis, gluconeogensesis, citric acid cycle, pentose phosphate, amino acid pathways and those associated with nucleic acid metabolism.
